Basic Port Security

Description:

This course provides basic information on seaports, security issues related to ports, and how seaport users can be a valuable asset in protecting American ports.

 

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain how seaports are an integral part of America's intermodal transportation system and America's economic system
  • Identify risks that threaten ports and the regulations, equipment, and procedures designed to mitigate those risks
  • Identify the role of different entities in port security, within what is termed a “culture of security,” and explain how an additional layer of security can be provided
