Law Enforcement (LE) Guide to Understanding Islamic Terrorism and Arabic Names

Description:

This course will provide awareness level information on Islamic fundamentalist terrorism and Arabic names and culture. Its purpose is to provide knowledge, dispel misconceptions, and to assist with interactions between first responders and Muslims and Arabs.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, students will demonstrate:

• An awareness-level understanding of domestic, international, and transnational terrorism that will assist officers and first responders in their daily responsibilities
• An understanding of terrorist tactics, targets, and pre-incident indicators
• A basic understanding of Islamic militant ideology
• An ability to distinguish legitimate Arabic names from nicknames, titles, and other name-altering schemes, and an understanding of why this is useful
